Happy Eid Mubarak to my Muslims viewers from all over the world. Today is the day of “Happy festival” for Muslims. And I created this post “Top models who are Muslims” As my way of celebrating with them. As there is a general belief that Muslims can’t become successful in the modeling industry because of the hijab they wear or their own type of bikini called “Burkini” which isn’t true at all.

HALIMA ADEN

She is an American Fashion model. She is noted for being the first woman to wear a hijab in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant, where she was a semi-finalist. Following her participation in the pageant, Halima received national attention and was signed to IMG Models.

Aden was born in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. She is Somali and at the age of six moved to the United States, settling in St Cloud, Minnesota. She attended Apollo High School where her classmates voted her as their school homecoming queen. She is a student at St Cloud State University.

She has served as a preliminary and telecast judge of the MISS USA 2017 pageant.

In 2018, Aden became a UNICEF ambassador. Her work is focused around children’s rights.

As of April 2019, Aden is the first model to wear the hijab and burkini in Sports illustrates swimsuit.

Aden was the first hijab-wearing model to walk international runways and to be signed to a major agency in June 2017, she became the first hijab-wearing model on the cover of Vogue Arabia, Allure, and British Vogue.

Aden reaffirms that she does not need to conform to society’s standards in order to be a successful model.

BELLA HADID

Hadid has said she is “Proud to be a Muslim” while reflecting on her father’s history as a refugee, practicing Muslim, and successful US businessman.

She has won:

In 2015:

  • Break out star: women (Reader’s Choice) from Models.com Industry Awards
  • Model of the year from Second Annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards.
  • Model of the year from GQ Men of the year Awards.

2016:

  • Model of the year : Women (Industry’s choice)

Hadid began modeling at age 16 with a Flynn Skye commercial project. Hadid also starred in the “Swan sittings” by Less Amoore, alongside actor Ben Barnes, before appearing in “Smoking Hot” by Holly Copeland.

Adesuwa Thongpond Pariyasapat Aighewi is an American fashion model and filmmaker in 2018, she was chosen as the runner up for “Breakout star of the year” by models.com. As of January 2019, Aigehwi ranks as one of the “Top 50” models by models.com

Adesuwa Aighewi was born in Minnesota to a Thai-born Chinese mother and a Nigerian father. Before modeling she was a chemistry student at the university of Maryland Eastern Shore where she started attending at age 15. She once interned for NASA. As her parents are environmental scientists, she moved frequently and spent half of her childhood in Nigeria.

MARIAH IDRISSI

Marian Idrissi is a British model, public speaker, and online personality. Idrissi initially gained recognition as the first Muslim hijab wearing model when she appeared in multinational retailer, H&M’s “Close the loop” campaign in 2015, after which, Idrissi became a leading authority on “modest fashion” appearing on domestic and international news programmes on the subject. In 2016, Idrissi signed to select modelling agency in 2016 and signed with Insanity Group Management in 2017.

Lalla Maria Derissy was born in London, England, on 16 August 1992, the daughter of Pakistani and Moroccan parents. Idrissi has two brothers, Moulay Ahmed Derissy and Sidi Yasin Derissy.
